FreeSVG.org released an extension for Inkscape
NEWSINKSCAPE SVG
FreeSVG.org is expanding its mission to make high‑quality vector graphics accessible to everyone with the launch of a brand‑new extension for Inkscape, a free and open source vector graphics editor for GNU/Linux, Windows and macOS.
This integration allows designers, hobbyists, educators, and creators to browse and import more than 170,000 CC0 public‑domain SVG images directly inside Inkscape, eliminating the need to switch between browser tabs or manually download files.
The new extension is built with simplicity and efficiency in mind. Users can search the entire FreeSVG.org library, preview images, and insert them into their canvas with a single click. Whether you’re designing icons, posters, infographics, craft projects, or educational materials, the extension provides instant access to a massive collection of free‑to‑use artwork. Because all images are released under the CC0 public domain license, they can be used for personal, commercial, and even large‑scale production projects without attribution or legal complexity.
This release marks an important step in FreeSVG.org’s long‑term vision of supporting open‑source creativity. Inkscape users have always relied on community resources, but having a fully integrated library of public‑domain vectors inside the editor opens new possibilities. The extension also helps creators discover artwork they might have missed when browsing the website, making the entire collection more accessible and more useful.
FreeSVG.org continues to grow, both in content and in tools that empower designers. The Inkscape extension is available now, free of charge, and designed to work smoothly across all major operating systems supported by Inkscape. FreeSVG.org invites all Inkscape users to explore the extension and unlock a world of creative possibilities powered by open‑source freedom.
